Active project areas
Off-road wildfire rapid response vehicle based on Ford Ranger 4x4
IAWS plans a rapidly deployable wildfire response vehicle with a professional specialist body, integrated water tank, high-pressure suppression system, rapid attack line, hose system, wildfire tools, LED emergency lighting, digital radio, GPS tracking, IAWS Mission Control integration and Responder app connectivity.
Initial UAV network for wildfire reconnaissance, thermal imaging and mission support
IAWS Drone Network Germany is designed as an initial UAV network for wildfire reconnaissance, thermal imaging, situational assessment and operational support. The systems will connect directly to IAWS Mission Control and prepare later DJI Dock capabilities.
Compact mobile command vehicle for UAV operations and digital incident command
Mobile Command Light is planned as a compact command vehicle for UAV operations, reconnaissance and digital incident command. It will connect field teams with IAWS Mission Control, maps, video, weather and communications systems.
Mobile command center based on MAN TGX with dedicated command trailer
Mobile Command Heavy is planned as a mobile command center based on a MAN TGX tractor unit with a dedicated command trailer and slide-out systems. It is intended to combine Air Operations, Ground Operations, UAV Operations Center, situation room, communications center, briefing room, satellite communications and Mission Control integration.
Development of digital wildfire analysis and operational intelligence
Wildfire Intelligence supports the development of digital fire analysis inside IAWS Mission Control. The goal is robust operational intelligence from NASA FIRMS, AI classification, 3D fire spread, government access and Super Admin alerting.
Long-term development of aerial helicopter capabilities
The Helicopter Capability Program prepares long-term aerial helicopter capabilities. Platforms under evaluation include Leonardo AW139, Bell 412EPX and Airbus H225, with emphasis on the Airbus H225 for heavy wildfire, SAR and civil protection missions.
Long-term preparation of specialized aerial firefighting aircraft capacity
The Aerial Firefighting Aircraft Program prepares long-term specialized firefighting aircraft capacity. The De Havilland Canada DHC-515 is the focus for the Mediterranean region and European wildfire suppression.
